Meal Prepping for Successful Healthy Eating Habits

Staying healthy during the busy holiday season can be a little rough. With school being in session, sugar and sweets being in abundance, alcoholic drinks during holiday parties, it can be easy to slip up. We find that meal prepping helps us make smarter decisions and keeps us on track during this busy season. Here are some tips to get you started with meal prepping and to make your healthy eating habits as easy as possible.

1. Purchase Good Tupperware

Search for some tupperware that is super solid to prevent leaks. If you purchase plastic ones make sure their BPA free, this industrial chemical can seep out, and potentially cause you and your family harm to your brain health. We prefer glass tupperware. It’s a little bit more expensive, but it lasts a long time and is easy to throw into the dishwasher.

2. A Crockpot Is Your Bestfriend

We LOVE crockpot meals. They’re easy, there are endless recipes online, and make large batches of food for your family – perfect for meal prepping! We find that meal prepping is easiest on the weekends, but crockpots are great for when you have to prep during the week as well – throw your ingredients in the crockpot in the morning before work and then come home to dinner being finished!

3. Get Ready To Save Some Money!

Who doesn’t like saving money? Have you ever taken a step back and looked at how much money you spend on eating out during the week? For some reason, there is this belief that healthy food is more expensive. You can spend $10 on a burrito bowl from Chipotle or you can spend $3 on the ingredients you need to make your own, this breakdown from Tiger Fitness shows the savings.

4. Portion Control Becomes Easy

You can only fit so much in tupperware, this makes it easy to eat a balanced meal without over eating. Often times restaurants serve portions that are way larger than whats needed. When food tastes delicious its hard to know when you’re full, so you just keep eating until you feel uncomfortable. With meal prepping, you’re able to manage that.

There are many great reasons to meal prep, but these are just a few. Get to meal prepping, we promise it will help you accomplish your goals not only during the busy holiday season, but year-round!
